Walker Intermediate has become known as an Excellent School of choice, because we enthusiastically assist children and their parents/guardians in reaching their ultimate goals in education. Our administrators, teachers, and support staff represent a powerful resource to our students in all phases of their educational development.

We strive to create an environment where every class and activity is a laboratory for our students to experience, first hand, the meaning of family love, concern, and encouragement. Through our commitment to excellence in education, our students are excited to discover the truth that each of them can expect to experience “High Achievement” as a lifestyle. At Walker Intermediate, we pledge to be flexible, responsive, adaptable, creative, and empathic as we embark upon the awesome task of establishing a foundation for ultimate success for our students.

Pamela Tankerson

Principal, Walker Intermediate

Mrs. Tankerson is a veteran educator who has a wealth of experience. She holds a Masters of Arts in Communication Disorders and Education Administration and a Bachelors of Arts in English with a minor in Elementary Education. Her teaching certifications include elementary education supervision, administration, physically handicapped, and learning disabilities.

She has served as a classroom teacher, a teacher trainer with the Education Service Center, Region 20 in gifted/talented education, special education and metric education, and school principal of five public/private schools. Mrs. Tankerson has served on numerous community boards and iniatives that include the SA Better Jobs Commissions, the SA Literacy Commission, Martin Luther King Commision and the SA Women & Children's Commission.

She has received several awards including the Frederick Douglas Freedom Award, Teacher Excellence award from Texas A&M University, Express News Community Advisory Committee and designation as a "Master Principal."
